2012 Trend: Paisley Printed Vintage Clothes and Accessories
For Autumn/Winter it was all about the 70s, with the high street stocked full of pussy bow blouses and midi skirts. And it doesn’t seem like our love for the decade that brought us flares has changed for Spring/Summer. Only now 70s shapes are out and the decades funky patterns are in. Come next season, we’ll all be going paisley crazy! But don’t wait until then; get ahead of the fashion pack with vintage clothes.
Before you head down to your local vintage boutique, take a look at the Spring/Summer shows. Paisley was used in many different ways, by all of the top designers. Both Matthew Williamson and Paul & Joe seemed to be drawing from the same inspiration with their boho designs and exquisitely crafted maxi dresses. Stella McCartney and J W Anderson created paisley printed pyjama pieces. Whether the trend for wearing pyjamas outside of the house catches on is debatable! But elsewhere Jil Sander showcased paisley printed cotton day dresses – another more wearable style. And Emilio Pucci created paisley pieces in a range of hues, from turquoise and lime to pink and scarlet. Plenty of inspiration for when searching for those paisley printed vintage clothes!
Look out for vintage maxi dresses and bold paisley printed shirts. The great thing about searching for vintage clothes is that you’re much less likely to be seen wearing the same outfit as anyone else. Most vintage retailers only stock one of each item, making it easy to create a stylish look that’s unique. Try mixing your vintage pieces with new pieces from the high street, or accessorise a new on-trend outfit with a paisley printed scarf for a more understated look (such as the one pictured from ASOS Marketplace). Just remember if you opt for paisley printed vintage clothes, keep your accessories to a minimum to avoid pattern overload!
